👁️ Visual Training Exercise for Better Depth & Binocular Vision

This optometric visual training technique is designed to help you improve how your eyes work together. The goal is to train your eyes to focus near while aiming beyond the object, enhancing depth perception and allowing you to process more visual information efficiently—with less effort.

🔍 Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Positioning

Sit comfortably and hold the transparent training sheet:

  • Keep it vertical, parallel to your face

  • Maintain it at eye level and reading distance

  • Ensure your hand stays steady

Look through the bottom set of circles toward a small target object placed at arm’s length (e.g., a small spot on a plain, well-lit white wall).

⚠️ Important:

  • Do not look directly at the circles

  • Always wear the prescribed lenses or special training lenses

2. Achieving Three Circles

With proper alignment, the circles should appear as three:

  • A middle circle (fusion image)

  • A green circle on the left

  • A red circle on the right

If you don’t see three circles:

  • Adjust the sheet distance (closer or farther)

  • Move the sheet slightly up/down or sideways

  • Adjust your distance from the wall

Once you see three circles:

  • Align the target object inside the middle circle

  • This becomes your main focus

If the middle circle splits:

  • Slightly tilt the sheet until it merges again

3. Head Movement Training

Now begin gentle movements:

  • Slowly turn your head side to side

  • Then up and down

  • Finally, move in small circular motions

👉 Keep the middle circle single and stable
If it doubles:

  • Stop movement

  • Refocus on the target

  • Regain the three-circle image before continuing

4. Peripheral Awareness

If one side circle (red or green) disappears:

  • This means one eye’s peripheral vision is disengaged

To correct:

  • Keep looking at the target

  • Mentally focus on where the missing circle was

  • Bring it back into awareness

5. Color Fusion Control

The middle circle should appear:

  • Darker (a mix of red and green)

If it turns:

  • Green → Right eye not contributing fully

  • Red → Left eye not contributing fully

🧠 Use concentration to restore both colors evenly, creating a balanced blend.

6. Letter Clarity Training

Now challenge your visual system:

  • Try to see the letters clearly without shifting focus from the target

  • Continue head movements while maintaining fusion

Next:

  • Look directly at the letters

  • Keep the target centered in the middle circle (even if slightly blurred—this is normal)

7. Spatial Awareness & Depth Perception

As you continue:

  • The middle circle will begin to feel like it is floating in space beyond the sheet

Try to:

  • Estimate its distance from you

  • Then physically verify by reaching out to where you perceive it

🎯 Benefits of This Exercise

  • Improves binocular coordination

  • Enhances depth perception

  • Expands visual awareness

  • Reduces visual effort and fatigue

  • Helps in vision therapy & sports vision training
